- Serco and UK Government Cabinet Office launch UK Resilience Academy

The UK Government’s Cabinet Office and Serco, the provider of services and support to governments internationally, are delighted to announce the official launch of the UK Resilience Academy (UKRA). The formation of the Academy is a key element of the Government’s drive to enhance societal resilience.
Building on experience gained over the 15-year partnership between the Cabinet Office and Serco with the Emergency Planning College, the UKRA represents a strategic shift in professionalising resilience and fostering greater collaboration across the resilience community.
Abena Oppong-Asare, Parliamentary Secretary at the Cabinet Office, said:
“This Government is securing Britain’s future through the Plan for Change, which is delivering security and renewal for the entire country.
“The UK Resilience Academy represents the next practical step in our duty to keep working people safe.
“It will help prepare the whole of our society - supporting emergency workers with upgraded training standards, and providing citizens and businesses with the right skills needed to tackle crises together.”
Serco’s Hamish Cormack, who has been appointed as Head of the UKRA, said:
“We are very excited about the opening of the UKRA. It represents a significant milestone in our mission to support individuals and organisations to be better prepared to face crises for the benefit of the whole of society. Collaboration is at the heart of our vision.
“We are committed to continually improving the training the UKRA will offer. We are aligning courses to the new National Occupational Standards, and designing professional pathways which will, in time, provide a route to accreditation.”
