Our Design, Integration and Test team based at Waterlooville regularly host work experience placements for local students. Typically, students spend up to two weeks with the team, to get a better understanding of how school subjects can be applied in an engineering career.
Our Design, Integration and Test team has more than 30 years’ experience managing products through the project lifecycle. Among our team we have a range of experience from seasoned experts to engineering apprentices.
Students on work experience shadow members of our team, asking questions and observing them performing tasks such as testing, manufacturing, fault finding, repair and calibration with on real products and test equipment.
Local secondary school student Alfred recently participated in a work experience placement. Over a week, he completed a small project which enabled him to see the end-to-end product design, build and test process.
He saw the product designed as a 3D model, and observed how the correct parts were ordered and then delivered. He printed components in the 3D printer, assembled the project with wiring and soldering. He passed a quality assurance inspection and wrote test specifications, which were used to test the final product.
