The role

First and foremost, you will be the public face of Serco’s Environmental Services team in the community. Our trucks are big and the first thing our customers see, and so before setting out on your rounds, you will ensure that your vehicle safety checks are completed and that your truck is clean and work ready.

Once those checks are completed, you and your team of refuse loaders will set off on your pre-planned route, collecting waste and recycling from residential homes and commercial properties, which will include pitching in with the refuse loaders when needed.

To be considered for a position within our team, all we ask is that you hold a valid HGV Class 2/LGV Category C driving licence, a digital tachograph card, plenty of enthusiasm and a big smile.

Previous experience of working with refuse collection is not essential as we will provide any additional training you may need.

The process

Once you’ve completed your application via our jobs page, you will be contacted by your dedicated recruitment contact who will answer any questions you may have about the role before being invited for an interview and driving assessment. Our residents are fond of their garden gates and as such, we like to make sure our drivers won’t be the ones to damage them.

If you have any questions or want to have an informal conversation with one of the team first then drop us a line via [email protected] and we’ll be happy to chat to you.
