The challenge
Serco Restart Scheme Job Coaches found themselves grappling with a time management and quality control issue regarding some participant interactions. The current process to create a CV for a participant is to refer them to an in-house trainer for a 1-2-1 session or an external provider, where both appointment times are a minimum 60 minutes.
Serco also noted that the CVs created at the beginning of the participant’s journey on the Restart Scheme were frequently of low quality. This led to either sub-standard job applications being submitted by participants or a time-consuming and inefficient re-working of CVs later in the process.

Our solution
We decided to utilise AI as a tool to combat time consuming and low-quality CV creation for participants. A CV can be generated via AI, saving a significant amount of time.
Details around work history, qualifications, aspirations etc. via a diagnostic review are completed with every participant. At the end of the review, by using AI, we can summarise case notes as well as generate a CV from the details captured during the meeting.
The impact
Utilising AI to write CVs for participants on the Restart Scheme has significantly enhanced the productivity and effectiveness of our job coaches' time. During a 1-2-1 CV appointment with a participant, having a 10 minute conversation then using AI, we can create a basic CV within 1 minute.
