Our service stands as a testament to our true impartiality. We work with all sides of the rail industry, whether infrastructure, rolling stock, operator, supplier, or researcher. It is critical we maintain our independence - the information, advice, and support that we offer is not biased towards, or influenced by, any particular point of view or policy.

3 - Engineering is in our DNA

With our rail industry heritage and passion for engineering we bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to respond and solve your business challenges with tailored solutions.    

Serco Rail Technical Services, part of the Serco Group, originated from British Rail’s Central Services Division in the 1990s.  

Today we have over 50 years’ experience in a broad range of technical services across the rail industry. We have a wealth of railway knowledge passed down through the generations - our engineers not only have a passion for all things railway but actively promote and support the learning and development of young engineers, whether student STEM placements, apprenticeships, or graduates.  

We also encourage recruitment from non-rail sectors especially from high integrity industries such as nuclear and aerospace, cross-industry sharing of best practice to supercharge innovation and benefit the rail industry. Engineering competency development is at the heart of everything we do. 

We work with companies from all sectors of the industry including vehicle and equipment manufacturers, suppliers, train operators, freight operators, and rolling stock leasing companies.
