Justice Operational Programme

New for this year is our Justice Operational Programme. In the UK we manage critical custodial services across the justice system on behalf of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). We operate six adult prisons in the UK along with a fleet of nearly 200 specialist cellular and multi-purpose vehicles to escort on average 24,000 prisoners per month between 67 courts, 24 prisons and 131 police stations.
To truly understand how to run these types of contracts you need to spend time on the frontline of the service. So you’ll get to experience what it’s like to be a Custody Officer, undertaking the full 10 week programme including how to control and restrain prisoners, and completing the same training as a Custody Officer. Once you’ve spent time as a Custody Officer you’ll then get to grips with the strategy and processes needed to keep these services safe, secure and with a focus on rehabilitation.
You'll be part of a cohort of operational graduates across the business and whilst most of your operational management development will be through on-the-job learning, you will also join them on a wide variety of training opportunities. This will further develop your skills and capabilities and set you up for success as you build your career pathway to becoming a future leader in a Prison or the Prisoner Escort and Custody Service.
Due to the nature of the programme, you’ll be spending the majority of your time on site at HMP Ashfield and a Prisoner Escort vehicle base. It would also be beneficial for you to hold a driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
